đź’ˇ Looking back: Top stories and programmes of 2023
We kick off this year by looking at some of the top resources from 2023 that helped platform teams better understand the landscape, assess their platform maturity and embark on a learning (and certification) journey enabling them to architect a robust API platform strategy.
The CNCF Platform Engineering Maturity Model
“This model highlights that successful business outcomes can only be achieved through balancing people, process, and policy alongside technology.”
– CNCF Platforms working group
CNCF’s initial Platforms Definition white paper described what internal platforms for cloud computing are and the values they promise to deliver to enterprises. But to achieve those values an organization must reflect and deliberately pursue outcomes and practices that are impactful for them. This maturity model provides a framework for that reflection and for identifying opportunities for improvement in any organization. The goal of this model is not to prescribe a rigid formula, but rather a framework that you can apply to your circumstances.
Platform Engineering: What You Need to Know Now [ebook]
“Developer joy comes from a combination of work that is easy to do and a great culture to support it. The success of platform engineering is not only measured in the tool that’s built but by the people it serves.”
– Jennifer Riggins
Tech Culture Journalist
In this ebook that is all about platform engineering, author Jennifer Riggins explores how DevOps culture has led to a rise in the adoption of internal developer platforms. Her work helps readers set off to pave a golden path for developers while creating a better DevEx and ultimately boosting revenue.
API Platform Engineering Fundamentals Programme 2023
“The content was exactly what I needed and the speakers did a brilliant job in breaking down the concepts.”
– A certified API Platform Engineer
Ok, we may be a touch biased about this one but this is a one-of-a-kind programme that saw over 700 participants either start or further their API platform journey. During this 7-week programmes, we covered topics like understanding jobs-to-done for platform teams, crafting a platform teams’ toolkit, ways to measure success, and a deep dive into API management for platform teams. Furthermore, we were joined by some of the best voices from the API platform engineering community like Abby Bangser, Jennifer Riggins, Anders Eknert, James Higginbotham, Ben Rottke, Richard Johnston, Sonja Chevre, and Zaid Albirawi! While the live sessions have concluded, we will be back with an on-demand version of the programme on January 25, 2024. In the meantine, join the waitlist now!
