• What is Tyk Self-Managed?

  Tyk Self-Managed is the easiest way to install Tyk Full Lifecycle API Management solution in your own infrastructure. There is no calling home, and there are no usage limits. You have full control.  When selecting a Self-Managed license, you can choose between three different deployment models: Launch, Flex and Global Multi-team.

• Do you sell perpetual licences?

  No. Tyk does not offer perpetual licenses. Licenses can be purchased on an annual or multi-year basis

• What are the differences between Tyk Cloud, Tyk Hybrid and Self-Managed?

  Tyk Full Lifecylce API Management is available in 3 different deployment methods:
  Cloud. Tyk Cloud is a fully managed cloud API Management solution provided as a SaaS. Tyk manages 100% of components
  Hybrid. With Tyk Hybrid, the Management layer (Control Plane & Dashboard) is hosted and managed by Tyk in AWS while the edge gateway(s) are deployed on your infrastructure.
  Self-Managed. You are responsible for deploying and maintaining 100% of components of Tyk APIM

• Is Tyk Dashboard open source?

  Tyk Gateway is fully open source, as are many other Tyk components. Tyk Dashboard, Portal and a few other products are proprietary and licensed. For full details on the Tyk products and components please see Tyk Stack

• Do I need to pay for non-production environments?

  Each plan details the number of licensed environments included. If you require more than the stated amount please Contact Us

• I'd like to spread my gateway deployment across multiple availability zones in the same cloud provider region, do I need to pay for an additional "region"?

  Your license entitles you to deploy gateways across all availability zones within the same cloud provider region at no additional cost. For example, with Tyk Flex, you can deploy in a single AWS Region us-east-1, and spread them across 3 AZs: use1-az1, use1-az2 and use1-az3 for increased resiliency.

• How many gateways do I need?

  This depends on your expected API peak trafffic, server specifications and the desired level of Service Availability required. For users deploying on flexible consumptive platforms like AWS with cyclical API traffic, we recommend plans with Unlimited Gateways to make use of auto scalling

• Do you charge extra for maintenance or upgrades?

  No, maintenance and access to latest upgrades are included within the annual license cost

• Do you offer extended trials? I need to extend my trial

• Are there any software dependecies for using Tyk Self-Managed?

  Yes. Redis (or SaaS equivalents) is required as local key store. Secondly, a database such as MongoDB, DocumentDB or PostgreSQL. Please visit dependencies for full detail

• What compliance level can Tyk Self-Managed support?

  Tyk Self-Managed is widely used by clients in highly regulated environments. It can be configured to comply with PCI DSS, HIPAA and other regulations. As Tyk does not phone home, the compliance control is up to the consumer as Tyk is deployed within their infrastructure behind their firewall.
