Community to the core

Tyk started as a community project and we’re committed to staying one. From a community of 1, we’ve grown to over 1 million downloads with events in over 15 countries and users on every continent. We want you to stay with us for the journey!

Over the next few months you will see some changes to our community forum and the way it is operated. No, we’re not selling out or doing away with it – in fact we’re investing a heap more time and resource into ensuring it serves you better. Our first priorities will be:

  • A small refresh of the community site, visually and structurally
  • Generating more helpful community content for you all
  • Working more with you on how we can improve and make sure we deliver much more value to your work and projects

To get there, though, we need your help! Fill out our short survey and help us to help you in a more effective way. It will take just 5 minutes of your time.

Whilst you’re here, why not take a look at some of our recent community news?

We’re proud to announce the launch of our Side Project Fund! – a micro-grant programme for people who have great ideas but don’t have the resources to make them a reality.

We’re really excited about the Side Project Fund and being able to help our community members with interesting and innovative side projects. This round closes on 31st March, so what are you waiting for? Apply here.

Last year we celebrated our second ever Community Awards, showcasing the amazing work our users are doing for Tyk. We’re gearing up for our third – interested in applying? Drop us a message at [email protected]

Thinking of applying? Here’s a snapshot of our 2019 awards. Logz.io created an awesome integration which allows Tyk Pump to ship analytics directly to Logz.io, to the benefit of a large number of users! One of our forum users bitsofinfo has been a regular contributor to the Tyk community, creating over 50 topics and consistently engaging with other community members to share their knowledge.

These are just two examples of where the open-source community has helped to shape Tyk for the better, and we’re looking forward to seeing more contributions and some amazing award winners in 2020!

And finally, we were super proud to be named one of the fastest-growing UK scale-ups by securing a place on Tech Nation’s Upscale programme.

I’ll leave you with one final thought: ‘In open source, we feel strongly that to really do something well, you have to get a lot of people involved’ – Linus Torvalds

Hell yeah we do – thanks to the community for your ongoing contributions and support!
